It’s been an issue for the students, if how are they going to spend their schooling habit; should they consider the traditional one where in they have to attend their class in the classroom, or the trending one, having home schooling where in having class on their own house? Let the students, asses first the pros and cons of having home schooling, let them make some comparison between traditional schooling and home schooling. Education is an important tool in building our future. Education approaches is still evolving, innovative, we can adopt any of those ideas, but still, all these approaches have the same intent. Traditional schooling refers to a school set-up where a teacher-student-classmate set-up is found. While as for homeschooling, the student stays at his house and his parent or tutor is the teacher.
If students are taking homeschooling, they may benefit onto the one-on-one attention. For instance, if they don't understand something in math, the whole class won't be moving on without him/her. They might be the whole class! It's also possible that they might learn more than they would in a regular classroom, because if they really excel at something, they can keep learning more at their own pace. One-on-one tutoring helps students effectively learn, and their parent can ensure that they have mastered few topic or skill before proceeding to a new topic, which is not often possible in a traditional classroom. This benefit is especially important for them with special needs or behavior problems.
The current scenario on traditional school, the ratio of teacher to students is 1:30, 40 or 50. This prevents the teacher to address the difficulty of each child within the thirty or forty minute time slot which is allotted to each subject. In the case of home schooling, if they are being taught particular topics, like quadratic equations in math, and if they cannot grasp the examples and application very easily, the teacher could restructure the time slot from half an hour of learning to one hour. Akery stated that traditional schools have a predetermined schedule that they follow. The home school schedule is flexible and determined by the educator. Homeschooling has a more flexible schedule. Usually, the schedule is decided on by the parents. The teaching parent is also the one monitoring the activities of his child. In traditional schooling, the schedule is fixed. The child goes to school at a specific time, studies lessons at a given time and goes home afterwards. A child spends 8 hours a day at the school. Like Kristen May stated on her studies that many children spend about seven to eight hours per day at a traditional school, during which time the parent is free to work or participate in other activities. Home schooling will typically involve less classroom time each day but the parent is teaching or supervising during this time. Traditional schools work within a fixed time slot, which robs both parent and child with very little time to devote to them every day. In addition to the timings of the traditional school, their setup of each subject to learn is addressed and limited to a certain time frame, which may or may not be enough for every child to grasp the taught subject.
In homeschooling, their teacher may not be a licensed professional. Sometimes it is their parent or a hired tutor. Moreover, the student-teacher ratio in homeschooling is 1:1. This allows them more concentrated learning process. Homeschooling allows the child to learn at his own pace while traditional schooling approach allows the child to learn with his same age-group. Home schooling environment makes us confident to learn easily, besides possessing talent and knowledge. There is no competition and hence no fear, as may be the case with many children, who drop out of traditional school. Selecting home schooling for them is a big decision that will impact in many aspects of their daily life. As an alternative to traditional schooling, home schooling means that they are taught at home. Their parents provide structure for their education, and they have an access to many resources to help them and guide their learning process. A best example of home schooling, spend the days visiting the zoo, touring museums or traveling to other educational sites in an effort to expose them to as much information as possible. This added time together will strengthen family bonds -- both between parents and children and among siblings. Parents who home school will not have to struggle to get information about their children's days. In home school settings, conversations about topics covered during lessons can extend to the dinner table and lead to interesting insights into the children's thoughts.
It is difficult to know if they are doing the right thing concerning their study habit. The truth is, there is no right or wrong decision here. They can choose either method and as long as it is done appropriately, they will receive the greatest possible benefits. In decision making in choosing between the traditional school and to home schooling can be difficult for our parent. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages to consider. The choice depends on which type of schooling best fulfills the needs of both the parent and child.
